Aviation Fuel

We have created together with European and Gulf refineries a partnership which gives us a strong worldwide presence, based on superior service, top quality of the product as well as expertise in international networking.

Using our network we supply top quality commodities, including Aviation fuels: AvGas 100ll, AvGas UL, Jet Fuel and enhanced specifications of Jet, meeting military specifications of NATO F-34 (JP8) which is designed for use in vehicles and tanks powered by diesel, in addition to airplanes, in times of emergency. In addition we source F-44 (JP5) widely used by the U.S. military. Such are being shipped and delivered to the most remote locations.

Our mutual aspirations are to deliver reliable, dependable and consistent supply chain, so our customers can have confidence in our services. We are currently expanding our distribution of these products to countries outside Europe, especially countries in Middle East, Far East and Africa.

The AvGas and Jet fuel variations are our top distributed products by volume, meeting Standard DEF STAN specs. At various stages, from refinery manufacturing to the final delivery to the aircraft fuel tank, fuel quality is checked to ensure that the fuel is clean and free from contamination.

Types of Aviation Fuels

The standard applies to two grades of aviation fuel (Turbine – military NATO grades F?34 (JP8), and F?44 (JP5) and Piston Engine which uses mainly AvGas type of aviation fuel.

Grade F?34 (JP8)

JP8 is the military equivalent of Jet A-1 with the addition of corrosion inhibitor and anti-icing additives; it meets the requirements of the U.S. Military Specification MIL-DTL-83133J. It is the dominant military jet fuel grade for NATO airforces. The UK also has a specification for this grade namely DEF STAN 91-87 (formerly DERD 2453). NATO Code F-34.

Grade F?44 (JP5)

JP5 is a high flash point kerosine meeting the requirements of the U.S. Military Specification MIL-DTL-5624U Grade JP-5. The UK Military specification for this grade is DEF STAN 91-86 AVCAT/FSII (formerly DERD 2452). This is primarily jet fuel for use in aircraft carriers. NATO Code F-44.

Summarising these two grades, Grade F?34 is a kerosene-type aviation turbine fuel, and grade F-44 is a high-flash kerosene-type aviation turbine fuel. Kerosene-type aviation turbine fuels are distillates with a minimum flash point of 38°C and high-flash type aviation turbine fuels are distillates with a minimum flash point of 60°C.

Avgas 100LL

This grade is the lower lead version of Avgas 100. Low lead is a relative term. There is still up to 0.56 g/litre of lead in Avgas 100LL. This grade is listed in the same specifications as Avgas 100, namely ASTM D 910 and UK DEF STAN 91-90. Avgas 100LL is dyed blue and is the main grade of Avgas used worldwide.

Avgas UL91

Compositionally this grade is somewhat comparable with Avgas 100LL but with a zero lead content, which results in a lower octane rating of 91MON. Avgas UL91 is specified in ASTM D7547. Avgas UL91 differs principally from both Avgas UL87 and UL82 not only in the higher octane rating, but in lower vapour pressure (49kPa max compared with 60kPa max in ASTM D6227) and that oxygenates such as ethers are not permitted. In common with all other current Avgas specifications, ASTM D7547 does not permit the use of alcohols such as ethanol.

Delivery Terms

We can deliver fuel in various packing forms i.e.:

  • 40? (foot) containers fully loaded with 152 drums/barrels of 216.5 liter capacity or
  • 20? (foot) containers fully loaded with 80 drums/barrels of 216.5 liter capacity or
  • BFCs – ISO containers, or
  • by road in 33,000 litre road truck tanks – approx 9,000 US Gallons (the last option is only available throughout Europe, Turkey and Middle East).

In case of AvGas our preferable method for distributions outside Europe are 20′ and 40? containers, fully loaded with the drums/barrels, as it reduces the risk of moving drums inside the container during the transporation.

Inside each 20′ (foot) container we load 80 drums and in case of 40′ (foot) container, there will be 152 drums/barrels containing 200 liters of AvGas. Some clients prefer this option, as once they get to the final destination they already have the fuel in the drums/barrels for retail distribution.
